I've learned that if you want your eyelashes to look thick but not fake just go and buy the thin natural looking ones. They are around 3-6 dollars and add lots of mascara. It works really well. The super thick fake ones look a bit ridiculous. I have worn them though :)

Orrr if you have an Ebay account you can buy like a pack of 10 for 拢4.00 and they are really good. (I would know, I have purchased them)lol
